NEW overseas player Sean Adams made a hard hitting debut, but could not prevent team Chippenham dipping to a 32 run defeat in a low scoring Premier Division Two game at Taunton School, on Saturday 13th July.
West Indian Adams made 52 off only 40 balls in Chippenham reply of 118 after Taunton had plodded to 149 for six in 50 overs.
Adams' first three scoring shots were fours and hefound the boundary seven more times, including two sixes, before he was stumped to become one of five victims for Taunton's Reg Keates, who finished with figures of five for 34 from 15 overs.
The only other Chippenham batsman to reach double figures was Richard Bates, who made 28 in a half-century partnership with Adams for the fourth wicket..
Earlier, Taunton, sent into bat by Chippenham skipper Ian Merryweather, crawled to 149, with Keates top scoring with 36.
