MARLBOROUGH fell 64 runs short of their target as Trowbridge completed a Gloucester and Wiltshire League double over their hosts at Savernake on Saturday 13th July.
The home side were unable to match the disciplined game plan followed by the visitors, whose openers Des Gingell and Richard Greatorex made a steady start against some wayward Marlborough bowling.
Ben Head bowled his customary tight spell and was unfortunate not to collect a wicket as several chances went down.
Although George Fox picked up four wickets for the hosts, Ben Whiting and Rob Edington ensured that Trowbridge reached a decent 188 for eight.
The extras column contributed 46 runs to the total, 11 more than top scoring Trowbridge batsman Greatorex.
In reply, the Trowbridge opening pair of Dave Hiscock and Andy Hales collected four early wickets to leave Marlborough reeling, the latter bowler finishing with three for 16 from his 12 overs.
Tom Norris and Paul Clarke gave the home side brief hope as the assembled a 50 partnership, but Trowbridge left arm spinners Mike Beel and Dean Semken kept control of the game.
The duo eventually broke the partnership and then accounted for the tail, leaving Marlborough all out for 124 with Clarke top scoring on 41.
