A DYNASTY has come to an end at Roundway Parish Council after father and son Mark and Stephen Oram resigned in protest against the Government's new code of conduct.
It requires councillors to sign a declaration, about their financial dealings.
At Monday's full meeting of the parish council, parish clerk Derek Francis said all councillors had signed the declaration except the two Orams.
Mark Oram, 66, became a member of the parish council when his father Fred, a former chairman, retired more than 20 years ago. His son Stephen joined the council recently.
Mr Oram senior said: "I didn't think I could sign the declaration. I have nothing to hide but it is the principle of the thing."
Stephen Oram, 40, was not prepared to comment but concurred with his father's opinion.
