WEEKS of training by seven residents and staff from the Amber Foundation in Savernake Forest paid off when they completed the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge, to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowden, in 23 hours 15 minutes.
All the walkers were exhausted but exhilarated after ascending and descending a total of 10,000 feet and walking 20 miles.
Sue Crawford Condie, spokesman for Amber, which helps young people get over problems including drugs and substance misuse, said: "Everyone was determined to succeed. It was a major fundraising event for Amber. A target of £10,000 had been set and at the last count £8,000 had been raised, which is fantastic."
One team member, Georgina Hall, starts training next month as an outdoor pursuit instructor.
