CHILDREN from feeder primary schools descended on Upper Avon School at Durrington to celebrate the Commonwealth Games with a day of mixed activities.
In conjunction with Sports England and the Salisbury schools sports co-ordinator, the event, held on Tuesday, was designed to give Year 5 pupils a chance to experience sport before they go on to secondary school.
The 150 children, from Bulford Kiwi, Netheravon, Larkhill, Figheldean and Durrington juniors schools, had the choice of taking part in physical education, art, ICT or problem solving most opting for the sport.
After participating in the long jump, sprinting, shotput and relay, the children were awarded certificates, and their schools won kit bags containing clipboards, T-shirts, participation certificates and other memorabilia
