BRIGHT sunshine and a large turnout ensured that this year's Figheldean summer fair was a great success.
Hundreds of people descended on the village playing field for an afternoon of games, displays and demonstrations.
The event began with the Ken Lacey Cup football tournament, which saw Amesbury Lions beat last year's victors, Durrington Diamonds, by five goals to four, in a nail-biting penalty shootout.
The fair was then officially opened by Figheldean May Queen Elice Watson and her attendants, Louisa McRobb, Jessica Watson and Ebony Kittsen, who made a spectacular entrance in a 1913 Renault.
Special performances from world-renowned gymnasts the Kangaroos and Solent Eagles Motorcycle display teams kept everyone entertained.
