TOWN councillors in Marlborough have asked Wiltshire County Council for some speedy action over better lighting for the pedestrian crossing by the town hall.
There has been criticism of the siting of the crossing ever since it opened a year ago, claiming a victim in the first week when a bus hit a pensioner on the crossing.
Town councillors have been asking for better lighting because the crossing is in the shadow of the existing street light at night.
Highways engineers have suggested an extra light attached to the town hall.
But a plan shown to the town council planning committee on Monday showed the new light on the western corner of the town hall, yards from the area which needs lighting.
Coun David Watson said he believed the county council had made a mistake, overlooking the fact that the crossing had been moved several yards to the east from the original suggested siting.
He said: "I think they have the original drawings which show this light where it was originally planned to put the crossing."
Councillors agreed to write to the county council saying they were happy to have a new light on the town hall immediately above the crossing.
