AROUND 280 pupils from Abbey Meads Primary School took part in a young Olympics during their sports day on Tuesday.
The children aged from four to 11 were split into 20 groups and dressed up representing countries from Japan to Trinidad.
The annual event, which took place in the morning delighted parents as the children took to the field taking part in activities as diverse as hockey dribbling, long jumps and high jumps.
Of the 20 teams, Spain came third, Trinidad came second while Israel were triumphant, finishing the day in first place.
Julie Hewitt, a year one teacher at the school and organiser of the event, said: "We all had a really good day and a lot of fun."
In the afternoon, the sports day reverted back to more traditional athletics with the children in class teams, taking to the track sprinting, while several teachers bound together in the competitive three-legged race.
