I would like to thank the modern day Samaritans who came to the aid of my husband and myself on July 13.
Returning from the Cavalier/Roundhead skirmish on Roundway we took the wrong road which landed us on a field path.
Our car became embedded in mud, resisting our attempts to free it we are both approaching 80.
Several cyclists saw our plight and tried to lift the car. One tried to use a mobile phone but it ran out of power. They offered us water and promised to alert the nearest habitation.
Next a gentleman and his daughter cycled past and he used his mobile on our behalf. A tractor passed and offered to pull us out, but we carried no rope. After about two hours the gentleman and his daughter returned bringing with him cold drinks.
He phoned again and stayed another half an hour until the rescue truck arrived, directing it to our position midfield, hidden by crops on either side.
None of these kind people would take recompense or give their names so I hope they read this letter of appreciation
