HUNDREDS of people flocked to Gastard's annual village fete at the weekend.
This year a record number of people joined in the festivities which helped raise money for the village hall.
The traditional fete was opened by James Gray, MP for North Wiltshire.
Councillor Jenny Collier said: "I was very surprised at the turnout considering there were so many other events happening in the local area."
Villagers enjoyed a tug-of-war, clowns, Punch and Judy, a fancy dress, a grand draw, a string quartet and, adding spice to the event, a samba band.
The village hall hosts local groups all year round and its general up-keep is an important issue for residents.
Thrilled with the money raised, villager Anthony Garnett said: "The fete was a great success, people of all ages were there and we are delighted with the money raised."
