WESTBURY entertained Frome in a vital league game as both teams are in the bottom three places.
Westbury made three changes from the previous week's defeat at Westlands, Keith Wright, James Dark and Adrian Kesby coming in for the injured John Delina, Garrick Hopkins and Adam Pothercary.
Frome won the toss and surprisingly decided to bat first. Westbury went immediately on the attack and it paid off immediately as Brett Thomas and Andy Carroll struck three times, and after 22 overs Frome had only scored 53 for five wickets.
There was a good partnership of 30 runs between T Dredge and M Nielsen but after 50 overs Frome had crawled to a paltry 122 for nine wickets.
All the Westbury bowlers had good figures. Brett Thomas took three for 34 off 15 overs and Andy Carroll returned his best figures in the first team league side (14-3-33-4).
The target of 123 runs to win seemed a formality, but Swift had other ideas and struck three times before Andy Elliott (53 not out) with good support from Steve Bruce (14) and Kane Scott (13) led Westbury to safety.
At the end Brett Thomas immediately decided to attack the bowling by taking 13 runs off Swift's bowling. He was the only Frome bowler who performed on the day. His figures of 12-5-24-3 were outstanding in a very disappointing Frome display.
This was Westbury's best performance in the league for two months and it must give the team confidence for the rest of the season.
