Five West Wiltshire District councillors will be donning their walking boots later this month to raise money for children's cancer charity, CLIC.
Councillors Trevor Askew, Cliff Carter, Glyn Jackson, Chris Solman and Sally Tucker will be tackling the famous Lyke Wake Walk, which stretches for forty miles between Osmotherly and Ravenscar in North Yorkshire.
The group will be supported by other councillors and are confident that they will complete the walk.
Cllr Askew said: "A couple of the group had tried the walk before but hadn't completed it, so they wanted to try again.
"We were inspired by Lloyd Scott, who walked the London marathon in an antique diving suit to raise money for CLIC."
The group is currently busy raising money and anyone wanting to support them can do so by contacting the council offices in Bradley Road, Trowbridge.
Leader of the district council, Bob Brice, said: "This is a marvellous effort by the group and I wish them the very best of luck with the challenge. I hope that they are successful and manage to raise a lot of money for CLIC."
