I write re: the Hilperton Gap. You reported that people in favour of a road (with inevitable infrastructure even down to powerful lighting) do not like being unable to add their voices to those of the County Council (in favour), Persimmon Homes (in favour), and the District Council (partly in favour).

It was rightly pointed out that the argument 'for' is taken as a given and indeed has been strongly represented at the enquiry.

My own letter this week to both local authorities has been rejected on the same grounds, so you could say both sides are in the same boat. I cannot see why there has not been enough creative thinking towards a less contentious solution for example, a northern route was proposed years ago, and not proceeded with due, I am told, to there being insufficient development at that time, to justify it!
