IT has been brought to my attention that Bradford on Avon Town Council has been accused of pollarding the trees in the town centre in a brutal manner.
This was done by West Wiltshire District Council without the usual consultation with the town council. In the past we have been informed when pollarding is about to take place and we have asked that every alternate tree be cut, and this has softened the general appearance, especially in the library car park where the market takes place on Thursdays, which is very popular.
I shall write to the district council asking that we be consulted next year.
JANET REPTON (Mayor),
Bradford on Avon Town Council,
Market Street,
Bradford on Avon.
