What a superb event was organised by the ladies of Bradford on Avon Netball Club to support Sport Relief last Sunday. The Wacky Races Sports Day was a marvellous afternoon's entertainment attended by families intent on having fun whilst raising money for other children less fortunate then their own.
Hats off to everyone involved who had clearly spent an enormous amount of time and effort to make sure that there was something for everyone to have a go at.
The kids loved racing each other almost as much as some of the grown-ups appeared to! The tension of the penalty shoot-outs was worthy of the recent world cup let alone the great prizes of Bristol City and Swindon Town tickets! Even the weather finally got its act together! I think a big thank you is also due to the many local businesses and the John of Gaunt School that supported the event.
Their generosity enabled all of the money raised to go entirely to Sport Relief.
The final amount raised was, I understand, in the region of £800. I'm sure that I speak for everyone who attended in saying congratulations and thank you to Mandy, Ellie, Sharon, Ali, Jo and everyone else involved for their efforts.
