If you fall ill with cancer you are quite properly looked after by the state.
If however in your advancing years you are struck down with Alzheimers disease then you could find your savings being eaten away and you may even have to sell your home to pay for your care.
It is time the Government took note of the findings of the Royal Commission on long-term care.
This was set up by the Government in 1997 and recommended that personal care that is help with everyday tasks should be free of charge. Sadly the Government have chosen to take no action.
If they would only act it would improve the quality of life for thousands of older people and their families who often struggle to care for them.
Things are much better in Scotland where the Liberal Democrats have forced the Government to implement it.
It's now time the people of England got the same.
