THE eighth generation of a west Wiltshire family has become a member of the Zion Baptist Church, Trowbridge after her father performed her full immersion baptism.
It seems tradition cannot escape the Jones family, as surrounded by family and friends, Sarah Jones was baptised by her father, Deacon Andrew Jones, at the weekend.
The 13-year-old decided, like seven other generations of her family, to become a Christian and a member of the church her family have attended since 1813.
Andrew Jones said: "Dating back to the early 19th century my family have been members of the church.
"Sarah's great-grandfather used to be a cleaner in the church and my sister married in it in 1996."
Performing his first baptism, Andrew Jones baptised his daughter by immersing her underwater.
He said: "There is an unbroken line of generations to be baptised in our family, and I am delighted that Sarah wanted to join the church."
Sarah will be accepted into the congregation this Sunday, when she will take her first communion.
