IT is a pleasure to see an event of international significance, such as the Royal International Air Tattoo, return to the region.
But it has to be said that enjoyment of the occasion was marred by difficulties in actually getting to the airshow.
Responsibility for that must lie, to a significant extent, with the show's organisers.
They knew that at least 200,000 people would be flocking to a small corner of Gloucestershire and the repercussions that would have.
Unfortunately, of course, with events of this kind, there will always be congestion problems.
But there are alternatives in terms of public transport certainly, a bus was in operation from Swindon which cut through the queues, directly to the event.
Perhaps if people are encouraged to make more use of public transport next year and I am sure there will be few wanting to re-visit this weekend's debacle then the event will pass off much smoother.
