MOTOROLA: EDWARD D BREEN - President and Chief Operating Officer, Motorola, Inc.
Edward D Breen is president and chief operating officer of Motorola, Inc. and serves on the Motorola board of directors.
He joined Motorola in January 2000, when General Instrument Corporation and Motorola merged. He served as chairman, president and CEO of General Instrument.
After the merger, Mr Breen was named executive vice president of Motorola and president of Motorola1s Broadband Communications Sector (BCS).
Subsequently, he headed the Networks Sector, which includes the Global Telecom Solutions Sector (the division for which most people in Swindon work), the Commercial, Government and Industrial Solutions Sector and BCS.
Mr Breen was named Motorola president and chief operating officer-elect in October 2001 and assumed his new role as president and COO on January 1, 2002.
Chris Galvin, chairman and chief executive officer, and Mr Breen together comprise the two-person Office of the Chairman that leads Motorola.
CHRISTOPHER B GALVIN - Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Christopher B Galvin began working at Motorola in summer jobs in 1967 and joined the company full-time in 1973.
For the next decade, he held sales, sales management, marketing management and product management assignments in the Communications Sector, the two-way radio business in that era.
In 1983, he joined Tegal Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Motorola and manufacturer of plasma etching and stripping equipmeant for the semiconductor industry, as vice president, marketing sales and service.
In January 1990, he joined the office of the CEO as senior executive vice president and assistant chief operating officer.
He was elected president and chief operating officer in December 1993, chief executive officer in January, 1997, and chairman of the board in June, 1999.
ADRIAN NEMCEK - Senior Vice President, Motorola, Inc. and President, Global Telecom Solutions Sector.
A well-known figure in Swindon during his time in charge of the Global Telecom Solutions Sector operations here, Adrian Nemcek is a senior vice president, Motorola, Inc., and president of the GTSS division, of which he was senior vice president and general manager of until September 2001.
In this role, Mr Nemcek was responsible for strategic business development, business strategy, standards and intellectual property, global alliances and investments for Motorola's wireless telecom infrastructure business.
Prior to assuming that position, he was responsible for the Wireless Infrastructure Global Sales and Market Operations Group, as well as heading up Motorola's GSM Infrastructure Systems business, headquartered in Swindon.
Mr Nemcek has been with Motorola since 1970, and has held a variety of engineering and business management positions in the private mobile communications business. In addition, he serves as chairman of InvisixTM, a company jointly owned by Motorola and Cisco.
