A DOG that went missing on Salisbury Plain five months ago has been spotted in Warminster.
Bertie, a nine-year-old cross-bred terrier, has been seen in the town several times.
His owner, Jane Goman, is urging people not to approach him themselves or call him by name. She said: "Calling his name just makes him run off, because he thinks he has done something wrong."
Mrs Goman, who acted as midwife when Bertie was born and owned both his parents, is very worried about the dog and the whole family misses him.
She said: "He is such a good dog. We all miss him very much, especially my two grandsons."
Bertie suffers from epilepsy and is on medication.
Mrs Goman is urging anyone who spots him to ignore him and just call her straight away on (01380) 827121 or on 0781 0002812.
