Chippenham Town boss Tommy Saunders will have a much better idea of the side he is going to field on August 17 after Chippenham retained the Fred Rutty Memorial Trophy on Saturday.
Saunders fielded 20 players as his team ran out 3-0 winners at Calne in the Bluebirds' first pre-season run out.
A host of triallists joined the influx of new signings as the Chippenham boss looks to whittle down his huge squad in time for Chelmsford's visit next month.
The triallists and fringe players were given the first half to impress, although few did in truth.
Giles Harris, Liam Byfield and Brazilian Juliano all looked lightweight, as Mark Badman's strike was all that separated the sides at half time.
Screwfix Direct outfit Calne certainly made life difficult for the Dr Martens Premier Division new boys, but the introduction of some established stars saw Chippenham gain total second-half control.
Old crowd favourite Steve Tweddle looked sharp again after disappointing last season, and fine goals from Matt Rawlins and Steve Brown gave Saunders' boys the Memorial Trophy for a second successive year.
