WITH reference to your article dated July 11, re Chiseldon Primary School what on earth is Mr Emmett talking about?

"The school is constructing an empire of buildings," claims Mr Emmett. I am not sure what this means.

It would appear there is general agreement that the school needs extra classrooms to satisfy demand. What does he think the school wants with this 'empire'? More classrooms translate as more space and smaller class sizes.

"Children are being used as blackmail tools," states Mr Emmett. Yet none of the parents I have spoken to share this view. The majority approve of the mobile project.

Mr Emmett goes on to imply that our children are 'not learning.' My eldest child has just received his SATS results, which are excellent, as are many of his classmates.

The standard of education provided is high and the children are happy.

It is a shame Mr Emmett is concerned with vistas of Liddington Castle rather than the welfare and education of the children.

Too many issues are raised in the article for the essence to be clear, except a platform for Mr Emmett's little rant.

Finally, parents have been 'keeping quiet' because they stand behind the school and its decisions, not through fear.
