AUSTRALIAN defender Gareth Edds will be given a chance to impress when Town make the trip to Hereford this evening.
The Sydney-born 21-year-old is looking for a new club after being released by Nottingham Forest in the summer.
He made just one appearance as a substitute for the City Ground side last season.
But King hopes the former Australian Under 20 international, who had a trial game with Millwall last week, can recapture the form which saw him represent his country in last year's Asian Games and World Youth Championship tournaments.
The Town boss said: "We'll take a look at him and see what he's got to offer.
"I'm also expecting a lad who has played at international level for Portugal.
"So although it's a first team fixture I will experiment."
King said triallist Darren Dykes would also be given another run-out before a decision on his future was made.
However, the indications are that King is keen to take a risk on the Buckingham Town midfielder.
He said: "If I can sort something out that that is agreeable to the club and the player then there may be an opportunity to do something.
"I think Darren has the potential to improve and progress.
"I suppose it's a Paul Edwards-type situation. We took a flier on him and from what I understand, he did very well in the time I was away from the club.
"It would be a non-expensive gamble. The boy has got something and I need to build a squad here."
Tonight's match at Edgar Street will also see midfielder Stefan Miglioranzi make his Town debut while Andy Gurney and Matty Heywood are also expected to make their first pre-season appearances.
Chelsea striker Sam Parkin is also likely to start at Edgar Street.
One player who will not be joining Town is Leeds United full-back Chris Kamara, son of the former Town star.
King was impressed with the youngster's attitude but felt he had adequate cover at right back with Chris Collins and Juan Cobian.
Former Wycombe striker Paul Emblen, who played in the 2-1 win at Didcot last week, trained with the squad at Wanborough yesterday and he too may be given another game this week.
Whether that is at Hereford or Bath City tomorrow night remains to be seen.
A Portuguese triallist, who also took part in training yesterday, will not be invited back.
King said: "It was another agent's recommendation that didn't prove successful.
"I think I've made my feelings on the subject quite clear."
Town's match at Bath City tomorrow kicks off at 7.30pm.
Ticket prices are as follows: £5 (adults) and £2.50 (concessions).
