A NEW housing development will be built on the site of the old Wootton Bassett School in Lime Kiln.
The development, called Compton Heights, is made up of a mixture of house types ranging from two bedroom 'coach houses' to three and four bedroom detached houses.
There will also be ten affordable housing units.
George Wimpey South West Ltd is due to start work this autumn and plans to finish construction in two years time.
Jacky Toomer, sales and marketing director, said: "We have given a great deal of thought to every aspect of the Compton Heights development and to the needs of the people who will live here. The high standards will be reflected in the character and design of the homes we are building".
The plans were approved by North Wiltshire District despite Wootton Bassett Town Council voicing concern that the properties, which are two and a half storeys high, would over look existing houses in Springfield Crescent.
