THE fire brigade has ensured residents of two special needs bungalows in Swindon will be safer from fire by paying for sprinkler systems to be installed.
Wiltshire's chief fire officer Neil Wright presented a cheque for almost £2,000 for sprinklers in Bill Turpin Court, Park South.
He said: "The sprinklers will afford far greater protection in case of fire. The brigade hopes that, in the long term, sprinklers will be as common in homes as smoke alarms."
While a smoke detector gives an early warning, attacking a fire makes the chances of survival much higher and Wiltshire Fire Brigade has been supporting residential sprinklers for several years.
