A JURY has found a Swindon man not guilty of stealing from his employer.
Barry Francis, 38, from Mulberry Grove, Pinehurst, was acquitted of two counts of theft from Thamesdown Colour Ltd in Gorse Hill.
The allegations dated back to August 16 and August 21 last year. The court heard Mr Francis was working as a librarian and delivery driver at the company, which prints brochures, leaflets and insurance documents.
Prosecutor Ian Halliday said that one of his jobs was to look after the aluminium printing plates used in the production process.
He said that, after using the plates, the company has a policy of selling them to scrap metal yard EMR, in Gypsy Lane, and Mr Francis had the job of delivering them.
The jury, however, did not believe the prosecution's case that Mr Francis sold the plates and pocketed a total of £1,579 on two delivery runs.
