TWO burglars were captured by police officers and a police dog after a night-time chase through Chippenham.
Police were called at 2.33am on Friday when a resident in Turpin Way spotted burglars in the garden next door. When officers arrived two men made off over the fence into woodland. Police dog Shadow and handler PC Alaster Bly were called in to help.
Six officers chased the thieves through Westmead and Moss Mead and towards Bumpers Farm for 20 minutes. When the men did not give themselves up Shadow was let off his leash and he caught one of the men by biting his leg. The other man surrendered and both were arrested.
Five houses in Mulberry Close, Blackberry Close, Moss Mead and Turpin Way were raided. Two Bristol men were arrested and released on bail.
