Staff should be commended for helping keep Princess Margaret Hospital's head above water in what has proved a tough year.
The hospital emerges today as one of the best performing hospitals in the South West, gaining two stars out of a possible three in its rating.
Of course, there is plenty of room for improvement, and none at all for complacency, for there is a chance of a £1 million in extra funding for hospitals that attain three stars.
Nevertheless, when there is a move to a new hospital to be arranged, on top of a rise in emergency admissions and delayed discharges, it appears that Swindon and Marlborough NHS Trust is more than equal to the task.
