GREENFINGERED John and Brenda Reeves have made it to the final of a regional TV garden competition.
The couple of Hamlyn House, Hilmarton, entered the contest run by BBC's local news programme Points West. They are now in the final four. The Reeves' garden will be shown on the programme tonight and viewers will be able to vote by ringing 09001 447704.
The couple moved to Hilmarton 24 years ago, but their riverside garden was then far from a dream place to sit and relax.
"It was a complete tip," said Mrs Reeves, 61. "When we started to dig we found bits of cars and all kinds of debris. The garden was on such a hill and I knew it would have to be terraced. It had gradually evolved over the years."
It is now brimming with flowers, shrubs and bushes of all varieties giving year round colour. Among Mrs Reeves favourites are the rhododendrons.
Mrs Reeves only decided to enter photographs of the garden a couple of days before entries closed.
