AFTER losing the toss, Chippenham were made to field and managed to restrict Midsomer Norton, who had only nine players to 149 all out.
Wickets were evenly shared throughout the team, with Steve Dolman taking three for 44, Dale Bowler three for 18, Craig Fry one for 43 and Jace Lawson one for 20. Purchase top-scored with 53.
In reply, Chippenham cruised to a comfortable six-wicket win with Steve Thompsett top-scoring with 59, Lawson making 31 not out and Tom Shield 32 not out.
Skipper Merryweather is due to return this weekend as fourth placed Chippenham play host to Stroud.
Said Searle: "We're making life hard for ourselves at the moment, but if we win the next three against Stroud, Weston and Warminster, we'll be back in it and have an easier run in than the others."
