HOLLYWOOD superstar Paul Newman is helping scores of young people from across Wiltshire to go on outward bound camps that could change their lives.
A total of £16,000 from the profits of the actor's range of salad dressings and sauces has gone to the Mitchemp Trust a charity set up nine years ago by Box explorer David Hempleman-Adams.
Every year vulnerable youngsters are taken on activity holidays to Wales to gain confidence and self belief.
The extra cash from the Newman donation means an extra 40 youngsters will be able to go on a week-long trip to the Brecon Beacons.
Operations director Mark Davey said: "Many of the young people will never before have had an opportunity to experience the great outdoors in a safe environment.
"We know from the hundreds of young people that have taken part in Mitchemp Trust camps over the years that they have found it a fantastic experience that has really taught them a lot about themselves and what they are capable of."
The week's camp made possible by the donation will take place from August 23 to 28.
The charity works with Wiltshire County Council's Social Services department and schools across the county to make sure the children aged from 11 to 14 who are chosen are those who will benefit most.
Money to help pay for the trips was also raised by a Three Peaks Challenge promoted by Mr Hempleman- Adams and from donations from other sources.
