POLICE today released a security camera still of a man they would like to eliminate from their inquiries following a sexual assault on a woman in Gorse Hill.
The 44-year-old woman was attacked as she walked home alone at 2.30am on Sunday.
The attack took place in May Close, next to the Hawthorn Medical Centre. The woman had been out in the Fleet Street area of town and became aware of a man following her on her way home.
The woman, who was wearing a short, red leather-type jacket, managed to fight the attacker off but was left with a bruised face.
Police hope the CCTV still will remove the man from suspicion.
The attacker is described as 35, fat, with short, brown hair. He is not being linked to the rape of a 14-year-old girl in the same area on July 11.
Police spokesman Alvina Kumar said: "We believe he is a local man and hope someone will recognise him. Even if there is doubt over his identity we would still urge the public to contact us."
Anyone with information should contact DI Jennings or DI Vaughan on Swindon 528111 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
