VOLUNTEERS in Calne and the Wiltshire Probation Service went on a rubbish clearing rampage on Sunday and collected 20 bags full.
The conservation commandoes blitzed William Street, Hungerford Road and Warren Crescent, removing weeds from cracks in the road and litter from grass verges.
North Wiltshire District Council and Calne Town Council provided everyone with rubber gloves and litter pickers.
Town councillor Joanne Heselwood who organised the tidy-up handed out posters of S Club Seven, which is fronting the national Keep Britain Tidy Campaign, to children along the way.
She said: "If an area looks good it means people feel better about where they live. A few people really can make a difference."
