THOSE of us that have lived for a number of years in Wiltshire, are no more surprised at the annual arrival of crop circles, than the customary sightings of the Loch Ness monster in Scotland, just prior to the beginning of the tourist season.
We are regularly informed by the so-called experts, that seem to converge upon us from every corner of the globe at this time of year, that because we live in close proximity to such highly spiritual locations as Stonehenge, Avebury and Glastonbury, that we are bound to attract psychic activity, unidentified flying objects and extra terrestrial visits. Many of these people go out of their way to explain the unexplainable to us unenlightened sceptics, but we remain unconvinced and continue to take it all with a pinch of salt.
There was however, a recent and remarkable singular event, that was witnessed by a great number of people throughout the West of England, and because of the feat, ridicule and disbelief went largely unreported
Even now, it is difficult to believe what was seen and heard, many may even have to think about what I am about to write for some time, before they could even begin to comprehend it.
A farmer being interviewed on a local television station, managed to speak for almost a whole minute, without using either the words subsidy or compensation. I know this sounds unbelievable, but it actually happened.
No wonder all this crop circle phenomenon doesn't raise an eyebrow with most of us, it's all so very tame by comparison.
