Gloucestershire have signed South African star Jonty Rhodes as one of their two overseas players for next season.
The 32-year-old from Natal, who is rated one of the world's best fielders, has agreed a one-year deal with Gloucestershire with an option of a further 12 months.
Gloucestershire chief executive Tom Richardson said: "Jonty is instantly recognisable to millions of cricket lovers throughout the world and we are delighted he has agreed to come and play county cricket for the first time."
Director of cricket John Bracewell added: "Jonty is one of the few cricketers who has total pull-in power. He has the potential to be a fantastic addition to the club and his knowledge will help the development of our young players.
"He will also give fielding exhibitions the like of which have not been seen since Colin Bland in the 1960s."
Gloucestershire hope Australian all-rounder Ian Harvey will be their other overseas player next year. They are currently negotiating a new contract with him.
