ALIENS will be invading Wiltshire's libraries this summer.
Youngsters at Trowbridge library will take part in alien role-playing and craft activities based on the popular children's picture book Here Come the Aliens by Colin McNaughton.
The activity is being held on July 31, from 10.30am to noon, for children aged five to ten.
Author Carol Sinclair will be visiting Bradford on Avon library to read from her new book, Operation Lighthouse, an adventure story about the environment.
The author now lives in Bradford, and will be talking to the children about her work and life as an environmental campaigner.
The event takes place at Bradford library on Tuesday from 10.30am until noon and is suitable for children aged eight to eleven.
Experts from Wroughton Science Museum will swoop on libraries across North Wiltshire to hold a series of workshops about flight. The tour includes a visit to Corsham library on August 16, from 10.30am until 11.30am.
Wiltshire's libraries will also be involved in a national project to encourage children to read during the summer holiday.
Children will be given a folder to record and rate the books they have read.
They will also receive a set of alien stickers for each book they finish.
County children's librarian, Sarah Hillier, said: "All the summer events are based around The Reading Planet theme and feature a variety of fun activities about aliens, space and the environment.
"The aim is to encourage children to read during their summer holidays and make libraries seem an enjoyable place to visit."
