WEST Wiltshire villages have been celebrating success in the county's best kept village competition with a second, third and fourth place.
Chitterne was the highest ranked west Wiltshire village taking second place in the small village category of the competition sponsored by Calor and the Wiltshire Times.
The small village title was taken by Ham after a gap of 38 years.
Sutton Veny was third in the medium village category, behind Lea and Tilshead, while Bratton was fourth in the large village section, behind Ashton Keynes, Bromham and Blunsdon.
The top three west Wiltshire villages received certificates at a meeting of West Wiltshire District Council.
John Reid, chairman of Chitterne Parish Council, collected the parish's award for the best small village
while Cllr Bill Hurd picked up the medium village award for Sutton Veny. Gladys Drewett collected the best large village award for Bratton.
The awards were presented by Cllr Alison Irving, chairman of West Wiltshire District Council. She said: "The Best Kept Village competition is important to community life in west Wiltshire."
