FORMER Warminster traffic warden Cyril Van De Merwe died after falling at his home in Dorothy Walk, an inquest heard.
Mr Van De Merwe, 61, suffered fatal head injuries when he fell down stairs in February. His wife, Lindsey Van De Merwe, described him as "a very helpful and kind man".
She told Wiltshire coroner David Masters how she found her husband at the foot of the stairs after hearing a bump.
The inquest heard Mr Van De Merwe had a drink problem which made him unsteady on his feet.
The coroner recorded a verdict of accidental death.
