STUDENTS from the Clarendon School in Trowbridge have won an award for a project based on the Wiltshire Times.
Year nine pupils beat off competition from 15 other groups and won the annual Business Partnership Award for their project, which studies local businesses.
The final product was the result of six weeks' work, which began with a visit to the Wiltshire Times offices in June.
The students had to gather as much information as possible about the company and put together a visual display showing the steps taken to produce a weekly paper. Six judges picked the winners.
Team leader, Sam Dawson, collected the award for his group, along with a cash prize of £100.
School careers coordinator, David Bullock, said: "The judges felt the project clearly met all the criteria and the large amount of original work showed how well the team had worked together to explain what needed to be done for the paper to appear on time every week."
Second place in the competition was awarded to a group whose project was about Lafarge Cement and the third prize was shared by two separate projects based on Nestl and Trowbridge Garden Centre.
