WILTSHIRE firefighters launched the Marie Curie Cancer Care's Ladies Driving Challenge at Trowbridge Fire Station on Wednesday, July 24.
The event is being held at RAF Colerne, near Chippenham, on September 28, to help raise money for the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity.
During the challenge, women will be able to experience driving vehicles they would not normally get the chance to, including fire engines, articulated lorries, double decker buses and JCBs.
Ginny O'Reilly, a Marie Curie nurse from Warminster, is taking part in a team of four.
She said: "I am eager to drive a fire engine and all the other crazy vehicles that will be there, as well as raising funds for the local Marie Curie nursing service at the same time."
Community fundraising manager, Sophie Kinsman, said: "It is a chance for us to put an end to jokes about women drivers!"
