Swindon Supermarine's search for a new centre half is set to continue after manager John Murphy failed to land two of his prime targets.
Cinderford defenders Lyndon Tompkins and Clayton Hook have turned down the chance of a move to Hunts Copse, with Tompkins opting for a switch to Western Division rivals Gloucester and Hook set to stay put.
Former Chippenham midfielder John Woods has also spurned Murphy's advances, choosing to sign for Screwfix League Paulton.
So the Marine manager has switched his sights to two as yet unnamed defenders, both of whom should take the field for the visit of Aldershot tomorrow.
Midfielders Marc Richards and Paul Donnelly will miss the clash with the former league club after sustaining pre-season knocks.
Trialist Gary Swann will be given a chance to impress from the start as Donnelly's replacement.
Aldershot, currently one of the top Ryman League sides, are set to bring a full-strength team to the Copse and Murphy is expecting a tough run out.
"I understand that Aldershot will be pushing hard for Conference football this season," he said.
"So it will be a very good test for us and it will be good preparation.
"We've got to start playing a settled side soon, but at the same time it's important not to expose the players to too much football too soon."
