IT really does pay to be a better driver following the launch of a scheme to reward drivers who pass the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) advanced driving test.
All successful candidates in the test will now receive a year's free breakdown and recovery insurance worth £50, thanks to the Hould of Experienced Motorists (GEM) which is joining forces with RoSPA to promote safer driving.
Offering GEM Recovery as a reward, both organisations hope to encourage more motorists to put themselves forward for the advanced test.
Chief executive of GEM, David Williams said: "Our latest initiative will provide those passing the test with a positive and tangible benefit that can help reduce their motoring costs."
GEM Recovery offers home and roadside assistance, recovery to any UK destination in any car the member is driving, emergency accommodation and alternative travel where necessary and access to 1,500 authorised garages nationwide through a 24-hour freephone helpline through which the average response time is 37 minutes.
The reward scheme is also extended to motorists who undertake the GEM/RoSPA driving assessment scheme.
RoSPA co-ordinator Charles Davis said: "This generous offer from GEM will give our scheme a welcome boost and provides a valuable benefit."
