WILTSHIRE'S biggest ever Tarzan Swing is to open in a Swindon playground next month.
The mayor, Stan Pajak, will be at the Richard Jefferies Adventure Playground in Eldene Drive on August 31 to declare the swing officially ready for use.
It is the latest piece of play equip-ment to be installed there as part of an improvement programme design-ed to coincide with the summer holidays.
The swing has been built by a team of people serving community service orders with Wiltshire Probation Service.
The work was supervised by Swin-don Council play development worker Martin Hawes.
He said: "The lads who built this really worked hard to complete the task.
"Digging grave-sized holes and then heaving the seven-metre high telegraph poles upright was a great team effort, but they knew that their hard work was going to give the local children lots of fun.
"The playground has now got a really physically challenging play structure designed for older children, helping them to develop their skills by devising games and thinking up different ways in which the swing can be used."
The playground is open from Mondays to Thursdays during the summer, between 11am and 4 pm.
