FOUR-year-old cancer sufferer Charlie Jarvis was set to return home from the United States today following a visit to a specialist cancer clinic in Houston, Texas.
The youngster, who was diagnosed with a form of cancer called Neuroblastoma a year ago, was taken to the Bruzinski Clinic by her parents Paul and Samantha for drug therapy which could prolong her life.
And it is likely that she will return to the clinic periodically to continue with her drug treatment.
When the Greenmeadow youngster's plight was first reported in the Advertiser last week, businesses and individuals pulled out all the stops to help reach the £70,000 target raising more than £40,000 in a week.
More than 30 businesses from the Havelock and Morley Street Traders Association have raised £1,000 from collection boxes inside each of the stores.
And warehouseman Roger Davis, an employee of Book Club Associates, shaved off his shoulder length hair to raise £355.
Future events include:
A 160-mile cycle ride around Wiltshire by BCA worker Robert Barrow on August 9
A sponsored fancy dress event on August 3 by the Have-lock and Morley Street Traders' Association
A sponsored wheelchair walk on September 15 organised by First Direct Nursing Services.
A 24-hour sponsored trampoline bounce this weekend at Target Worldwide Express in Wootton Bassett.
