IT was no secret that, because of last week's strike, there would be no refuse collection on that Wednesday.
It was also made perfectly clear that households so affected would not have a collection until this week.
The only reason that refuse was lying in the streets, as reported in Tuesday's paper, is that certain residents did not have the common sense to keep their refuse until this week.
We may or may not agree with strike action, but with a little thought, the problems described in your article could have been easily avoided.
Incidentally, if another day of action is planned for next month, could it not take place on another day, and so give us all a fair crack of the whip where refuse collection is concerned?
