INTREPID cyclist Mark Rutty has raised more than £500 for charity and cannot wait to get back in the saddle.
The Evening Advertiser sponsored Mark £100 to perform his own 320-mile Tour de France earlier this month.
His pedal power is helping provide speech therapy classes for children with Down's Syndrome.
Mark, 29, from Haydon Wick, said: "I am grateful to the Evening Advertiser for their support and am already planning my next challenge."
But when Mark returns to France next July with his sporting colleagues, he will be astride an unusual bike.
"We hope to break a world record but cannot reveal the full details of our future athletic exploits," he added.
After a brief respite from training at the gym, Mark is due to start cycling 20 miles a day next week.
"The holiday from exercise has been enjoyable but I need to limber up for more madcap adventures," he added.
