Two first-half goals from Bristol City's Marvin Brown gave his side a 2-0 win over Fairford in an entertaining friendly at Cinder Lane on Friday.

Former Swindon Town favourite Shaun Taylor bossed the City reserve side, which included another ex-County Ground star, goalkeeper Frank Talia.

After a goalless first half-hour, Brown finished off a good move by giving Fairford keeper James Price no chance. He added his second on the stroke of half-time.

Fairford pushed forward after the break and Talia saved well from Lee Stoddart in the opening minutes.

The lively Andrew Burke rattled the bar at the other end.

Fairford's Neil Matthews then missed a great chance, shooting tamely at Talia with only the keeper to beat.

Taylor was pleased with his City side and said: "We had a good mixture of youth and experience and I thought the young players did well.

Asked if Talia had joined City, Taylor said: "Frank phoned and said he was without a club. We were a keeper short so he came along and had a couple of games.

Of his old club, Taylor added: "I have been sorry to see Swindon going through difficult times. I wish them well expect when they play Bristol City of course.

Fairford boss Mark Webb said: "It was a good game for us. It is always nice to play against professionals."
