Swindon Supermarine came from behind again to win their second successive pre-season friendly, 3-1, against Aldershot.

Marine trailed against Hook Norton last weekend before surging back to win 3-1 and it was the same story against the much-fancied Ryman Leaguers on Saturday.

The shots brought a mixture of first teamers and youth players to Hunts Copse and took the lead somewhat against the run of play when some hesitant home defending allowed Michele Harrison to loop a header over stranded keeper Steve Benbow on 25 minutes.

But Marine, who fielded former Swindon Town defender Bryan Smith as a triallist, quickly bounced back when Warren Fuller levelled seven minutes later.

Another triallist James Hughes who had turned out for Cirencester last week found Gary Swan and his knock-down allowed Fuller to head home from close range.

With Fuller and Hughes linking well, it was no surprise to see John Murphy's side take the lead three minutes before the break.

Hughes' cross-field ball found Tom Jones and the veteran midfielder fed Fuller, who stabbed home his third goal in as many games since his transfer from Highworth.

Murphy made a host of substitutions at half-time, but Marine continued to have the better of things after the interval.

The most prominent replacement was 17-year-old Gary Smart, who continues to impress in the run-up to the Western Division campaign.

And it was the youngster who tucked home goal number three, smashing the ball in from the edge of the box after Jones again, had carved the Aldershot rearguard open.

Marine will now be looking to make it three on the spin when Screwfix Direct League Corsham Town visit the Copse tomorrow night.
