THE countdown to the wedding of the Bride of the Year 2002 has well and truly begun.
On Saturday, bride Katrina Bennett, 25, and her groom David McCarron, 27, will be joined in matrimony in the competition's first civil ceremony.
Seeing a daughter get married is surely one of the biggest days in a mother's life.
But it is the second time this year, mother of the Bride Jenni Bennett will be toasting a daughter's marriage with a glass of bubbly and a slice of wedding cake Katrina's sister, Clare, was married just a few weeks ago in Cheltenham.
Jenni is looking forward to the big day and certainly doesn't have wedding fatigue.
She said: "It has all been very, very busy!"
She works at a school in Ascot, and lives in York with her husband and Katrina's father, Colin Bennett.
She said: "It has been very emotional. But it is very, very exciting I couldn't believe it!
"Being Bride of the Year is a fantastic opportunity for Katrina and she and David are looking forward to it very much.
"They are very busy people but they are getting excited.
"And to have the cameras following you around everywhere is really unique.
"They wouldn't have been able to afford it this year, so it has come at a wonderful moment."
But Jenni is well prepared for the big day and has her outfit all ready.
She said: "I will be wearing a dress and jacket in a sandy colour with matching hat."
But it is not just Katrina and her mum who are getting a new look the venue will also be dressed up for the big day.
The finishing touches will be made to the Goddard Arms Hotel by the Party Box Balloon Decorating Service.
Nesta Richards, owner of Party Box, is pleased to be involved once more in the Bride of the Year competition.
She said: "We will be doing our thing on the morning of the reception. We will be dressing the venue up with balloons, and bows and ribbons and lace.
"I have liaised with the bride and groom and they have left it up to me.
"I have shown them pictures of other venues that we have dressed and they have picked different bits and pieces of what they have seen."
