MORE than 250 cyclists put on a huge display of pedal power at Lydiard Park taking part in the Cycle for Life event organised by Cancer Research UK.
They followed a circular 30km route around the outskirts of Purton via Cricklade and then back home again to raise money for research into male cancers.
Organiser Toby Fielder said: "It was a brilliant carnival atmosphere and we are really pleased with the number of people who took part.
"The event was the fourth in a series of 12 races being held around the country to promote awareness of male cancers."
While most people completed the course in around three hours, the winner was 44-year-old Glenn May, who romped home in just 52 minutes.
He said: "I am really pleased with my time. I attend a lot of cycling events and I have to say that this one was extremely well organised. It was not really a serious race just a really enjoyable event."
Those taking part paid £7.50 each or £4.50 for children and were each asked to raise a minimum of £50 and it is anticipated at least £12,000 has been raised.
Before starting they were treated to a free breakfast and they each received a goody bag and winner's medal at the end.
